David Andersen has been a professional musician, recording artist, and piano technician/consultant for nearly four decades. He has overseen the restoration and maintenance of hundreds of Steinway and Mason & Hamlin pianos during that time. Beginning in 1975 he apprenticed for two and a half years under Jack Cofer in Atlanta, Georgia; during the 1980s he studied at Steinway facilities both in New York and London.
Nicholas’s career was not always certain. In 1999, he earned a B.A. in Art with a minor in Film Studies at the University of Rhode Island. While he enjoyed painting and illustration, he chose not to pursue it as a full-time occupation. In 2002 he moved to Los Angeles, where he worked as a manager at the Knitting Factory, a popular music venue in Hollywood.
Dale is a second-generation piano technician. Having grown up in the piano world, and in a deeply musical family, prepared Dale for a career in custom piano restoration and rebuilding. His wife Trix and his sons Dennis & Jacob work together at the family business Erwin’s Piano Restorations in Modesto, California. They are the exclusive makers of what we consider the best soundboards in the world, and DAP is proud to put one in every custom full piano restoration we do.
