We recorded the last concert we did (6
Hands in the Garden Redux) in a major league way,
and our commitment is to both record and film every
concert from here on out using the best production
values and equipment possible, and then release what's
called DualDiscs---a CD- looking thing that on
one side is a CD, mixed in stereo, and on the other is a
DVD film, with the music mixed in 5.1 surround
sound---under the rubric "Live at
THE
ATELIER." We're deeply excited by this
project; so are the artists we've talked to about it, so
stand by. The recording from the last concert, in
November 2005, is extraordinary in its near-field
reproduction of the "sonic bubble," the sound that the
artist and/or close, close listener hears. The stereo
field is wide and deep; no compression of any kind, no
echo, and yet the pianos sound huge, clear, and
resonant. For the first effort, we're happy campers.
